Kanaka trailer brings Kannadiga pride to the fore

The trailer of a film is the first window audiences get for a glimpse of what's in store and, often, is the criteria that helps them decide whether the movie is worth a trip to the theatres. It is no wonder, then, that filmmakers are going all out to ensure that this first impression is the best impression. And if the numbers these trailers are clocking up online are any indication, they seem to have mastered the art. The latest case in point is the trailer of the upcoming Duniya Vijay-starrer Kanaka, which is not only doing really well online, but the traction has ensured that prominent distributors are showing interest in the film. The R Chandru directorial, which also has Hariprriya and Manvitha Harish in it, has Vijay in the role of a hardcore Dr Rajkumar fan, who also takes immense pride in his Kannadiga roots and the language. Chandru, though, is not limiting this message to just the film and taking the audio launch to Siddlaghatta on the outskirts of Bengaluru. "We had done this with my previous film as well. This is an area that is closer to the Andhra border and people there tend to prefer watching Telugu films. But by giving them an opportunity to be a part of Sandalwood events, we are looking at converting them and having them watch Kannada films. We will have Naveen Sajju doing a folk rock performance. Music director Gurukiran will also perform," says Chandru, adding, "The trailer has been doing very well online, so much so that the distributors of Baahubali have shown interest in the film."
